MS3 Controller

SSL in partnership with COLAS and SES (Securite et Signalisation) are responsible for the development, production and commissioning of the LED based MS2/3 message signs.

These signs vary from 2 line 12 character message only signs up to 3 line 18 character signs with both message and signal capability. SSL have designed and built the sign controller, which allows the sign to be controlled from the RS485 roadside communications network.

All commissioning works are undertaken by SSL and at present there are over 80 signs installed on the English motorway network with more to follow.

SSL also produce additional sign components for integration by SES into the signs which include the following:-

• Lantern Control Processor
• Ambient Light Monitor
• Temperature and Humidity Sensor
• High Speed Lightning Protection unit.

SSL has also developed an Engineer's Terminal application which allows the controller to be configured and status / fault information to be reported and logged.
