Synchronous Communication Tester

The Synchronous Communications Tester was developed on behalf of the HA for testing equipment using synchronous communications such as the NMCS2 LCC, Transponder and MIDAS legacy equipment.

It has become a valuable tool for testing PCM circuits, Synchronous Modems and other DTE or DCE interfaces.  The application was designed to be flexible and support the full range of synchronous configurations and interface options.

As with the HA Asynchronous Communication Tester the application extends the diagnostic capabilities of the HA MOTE software with support for both HDLC and LAPB protocols and fully configurable serial settings.  HDLC Master poll, LAPB (DTE) poll, LAPB (DCE) poll, monitor, and manual based operations are supported with an extensive array of performance statistics and hexadecimal debug output. The following key features are supported in the latest version:

  • Provides a comprehensive list of performance and error statistics
  • Provides automated and manual control modes for both LAPB and HDLC stacks
  • Provides manual and automated setting of serial control lines
  • Provides configuration options including Baud Rate, Interface (RS232/RS485/RS422), Preamble, Clocks and Data Encoding
  • Enables engineers to determine the optimum configuration for the MOTE
  • Supports different synchronous interface cards (ELAN HD717/SEALEVEL 3612/5102)
  • Supports long and short term soak tests
  • Supports MIDAS and NMCS2 Messages
